Ministry of Energy cooperates with IFC in the field of solar energy

During the negotiations, in particular, the current tender bidding under the "Scaling Solar" program for the construction of photovoltaic plants (solar) on the basis of public-private partnership (PPP) was discussed.

At the same time, other promising projects in the field of electric power industry, planned to be implemented on the basis of PPP, were discussed.

It should be added that in May of this year, the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the use of renewable energy sources" and "On public-private partnership" were adopted. Thus, a regulatory framework was created to accelerate the implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy sources (RES).

The adoption of these laws gives the Ministry of Energy the opportunity to plan and implement a set of measures aimed at implementing investment projects in the field of RES on the principles of public-private partnership (PPP).

The law "On the use of renewable energy sources" provides a number of benefits and preferences to manufacturers of RES installations and energy producers from RES, as well as to individuals using RES in residential premises.

The Ministry of Energy has also developed the Concept for the development of renewable energy sources in the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2019-2023.

Long-term target parameters for the development of RES are also provided for by the Concept of fuel and energy supply of the country for 2020-2030, which is being developed with the technical assistance of international financial institutions (World Bank, Asian Development Bank).

Together with the international consultant - MottMacDonald (Great Britain), a master plan is being developed for the long-term development of the electric power sector of Uzbekistan, including in the part of RES.
